Red Dead Redemption 2 map size: Stunning Xbox and PS4 news ahead of release date

Rockstar Games are rumoured to have a shocking surprise waiting for fans on the October release date.

That’s according to a recent Q&A, which suggests that the Red Dead Redemption 2 map size will be large enough to encompass the original map area.

Red Dead Redemption was no slouch when it came to explorable areas, and it appears the sequel coming to PS4 and Xbox is only going to build on this.

The news comes from a now deleted Q&A posted by Dutch site Inside Gamer, which suggests that RDR 2 is going to be huge.

A translation posted on Reddit reads: “After asking Rockstar they told me the entire (!) map of Red Dead Redemption is also in this game, but there, of course, many more areas added.

“In the six hours I played I only got to see a small part of Blackwater, and even that was already gigantic. Six hours was not enough to see any of the other familiar places.”

That will be in an incredible boast if proven true on the October release date by fans.

However, it should also be noted that this part of the original Q&A has been removed, so there’s a chance this was posted in error.

This would certainly fit in with the recent news that Red Dead Redemption 2 will require 105GB of space on PS4 Pro.

This information comes directly from Rockstar Games via a new PS4 Pro bundle, revealing that RDR2 is going to be one of the biggest console games ever released.

For those with the original 500GB PS4 and Xbox One models, a time will come when they will have to decide which other games to chop.

20% of the total overall space going to one game on day one is pretty unusual and will probably only grow with the release of Red Dead Online.

The open beta for this is scheduled to begin in November and will no doubt add a bunch of new content as we saw with GTA 5 Online.

What fans might not be ready for is the PS4 exclusivity deal that will be in place during 2018.

Online content will be available first on the PlayStation games machine, followed by Xbox One.

An earlier message from Sony, reads: “Handcrafted to take full advantage of PS4, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland.

“The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

“We are pleased to announce that PS4 players get first access to earn select online content in the vast open world of Red Dead Redemption 2.”
