LeBron James backed to win MVP by rival general managers

That is the view of NBA general managers, who were surveyed on who they believed would take the crown this coming year.

James has not picked up the crown since 2013, but has been backed to set the Western Conference on fire this year with his new LA Lakers team.

The survey carried out by the NBA asked every NBA franchise general manager a series of questions about the league.

Golden State Warriors were named as the landslide favourites to win the NBA Championship for a third straight year.

A staggering 87 percent of GMs predicted Steph Curry and co. to emerge victorious next June once again.

It was James, however, that the poll results found was the slight favourite to be named most valuable player.

He picked up 30 percent of the vote, compared to Kevin Durant in second place with 27, and Anthony Davis with 17 percent.

James Harden came fourth in the poll with ten percent.

‘Bron’ moved to the Lakers in the summer after four years at his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

His move to Los Angeles raised a few eyebrows, with many believing he was moving for personal gain, rather than to be a part of a good team.

Last season the Lakers went 35-47 and missed out on the play-offs, with fans hoping that James’ signing will be the start of the glory days returning to the franchise.

The Lakers are currently in the middle of a slump, they are on their longest play-off drought, having not made the post-season since 2013,when they lost in the first round.
