Cyberpunk 2077 news: Shock release date rumours for PS4, Xbox and PC fans

The hype surrounding CD Projekt Red’s next project is possibly higher than their last major release – The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.

The game was a massive success for the studio, and Cyberpunk 2077 looks to be another leap forward for PS4, Xbox One and PC fans.

And today has seen a new rumour surface that suggests the release date isn’t as far away as many had feared.

With the amount of ambitious new features being used in the game, there’s been a lot of talk among fans on whether this might be a project that ends up on PS5 and Xbox 2, rather than the current generation.

The information comes from a now deleted tweet from Turkish publisher Bilkom, who was in charge of distributing The Witcher 3 in the region.

Screengrabs show a message that seems to indicate that the Cyberpunk 2077 release date may have been set for 2019.

No further information is available to suggest when next year it could hit shelves but it makes sense it would probably be closer to the end of the year.

This could of course just be a mix-up on the part of the distributor and may mean little when it comes to the official release date.

But it would certainly prove popular with fans to know that Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, rather than next-gen.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is being planned for the current crop of gaming machines, it doesn’t mean a launch on PS5 and Xbox Two is out of the question.

There have been past hints from CD Projekt Red that they may look to launch Cyberpunk on the next generation of consoles too, depending on when the game is released.

In other Cyberpunk related news, it was recently revealed that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be publishing 2077 in North America.

Having partnered up in a similar way for The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the latest venture the two companies work together on.

“We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence,” said Michal Nowakowski, CDPR’s SVP of business development.

“Cyberpunk 2077 is our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things we can achieve together.”
