Princess Eugenie wedding: Will Sarah Ferguson sit with Royal Family and Prince Andrew?

Sarah Ferguson will watch her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie of York, marry Jack Brooksbank on October 12.

The royal wedding will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – which is where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials took place back in May this year.

As the mother of the bride, the 58-year-old will be playing a very important role in the special day.

Sarah and Prince Andrew divorced back in 1996, meaning she looks set to attend the nuptials solo.

Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, has already been confirmed as the Maid of Honour on the big day.

This means that Sarah will likely be joined by her eldest daughter in the congregation, after the 30-year-old has walked down the aisle ahead of her sibling.

While it is unknown whereabouts the Duchess of York will sit, her important role in the nuptials means she’ll likely be sitting near fellow relatives, the Royal Family.

Despite having parted ways, Sarah and Prince Andrew, are thought to be on good terms with the father of the bride.

It is known that the two both still live at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

The duo married back in 1986, and announced their separation in 1992 – before legally divorcing four years later.

It is thought Prince Andrew will walk with the bride down the aisle, at which point he may be seated next to Sarah.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams previously said that, being the bride’s parents, it was likely that the pair would sit together.

But, whatever happens, it seems that the Windsors needn’t worry about breaking royal protocol during the big day.

That’s because, according to the royal commentator, it’s the royals themselves who determine the “protocol”.

He added: “I suspect they may well sit together, as the bride’s parents, it would make sense.

Meanwhile, the rest of the royals could be sitting close by – despite Sarah reportedly having a “complicated relationship” with other members of the family.

The contributor continued: “The issue is one of some sensitivity as the Duchess has rarely been included in royal events in recent years as she is no longer a member of the Royal Family.”

Sarah appeared to have been left off the guest list for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, both now 36, in 2011.

However, the Duchess was spotted at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, earlier this year, to see her nephew Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan Markle, 37, wed.

Fergie made her way into the church by herself, with her ex-husband and their two daughters being pictured just minutes later.
