Trump says Democrats ‘turning US into VENEZUELA’ as he attacks opponents’ immigration plan

Trump is currently campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of November’s vital Congressional elections.

He said: “They Democrats want to turn the US into Venezuela.

“We’re not going to let it happen.

“They want to shut down American energy and replace freedom with socialism.”

The President also claimed the Democrats want to open US borders to “illegal aliens”.

His comments were made at the Freedom Hall Civic Centre, which has a capacity of 8,500.

Trump held a rally in support of John Rose, the Republican candidate for Congress during November’s mid-term elections.

During the address Trump also said the Democrats “don’t mind crime”.

He argued: “Radical Democrats in Congress are trying to erase everything we have achieved.

“They are people who don’t want to see a strong military, they won’t like borders, they don’t mind crime.

“And their enablers are the fake news media”.

The US President added that work is underway on the border wall with Mexico.

He claimed: “The wall is under construction, a lot of work has been done.

“We need the wall, we need border security.”

On the official Democratic website there is no mention of encouraging illegal immigration.

However they have taken aim at the current President’s policies on the matter.

They say: “Democrats are fighting for every immigrant who feels threatened by Donald Trump’s election.

“We will not stand by and watch families be torn apart.

“Democrats in Congress and in states and cities across the country are already standing up to Trump’s hatred and bigotry to defend their immigrant neighbours.”
