Man Utd news: Nemanja Matic discusses clear-the-air talks ahead of Champions League clash

crashed to a 3-1 loss away to West Ham on Saturday, ensuring their worst start to a league campaign in 29 years.

After seven games the Red Devils are in 10th place in the Premier League table having lost three matches and sit nine points behind leaders Manchester City.

The pressure has also piled on Jose Mourinho, even though reports suggest he looks increasingly likely to face the sack.

United turn their attentions to the Champions League on Tuesday (8pm) at home to Valencia and hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to Group H after their 3-0 victory away to Young Boys last month.

And Matic claims United stars have tried to solve their differences in the dressing room.

He said: “Of course we spoke between us and we know the situation is not good and that we can do better.

“I expect that tomorrow everyone will give more than in the last game. Not only to give more but to be more concentrated.”

However, the Serbian midfield enforcer is adamant that United have major issues to address.

“I don’t think with talking you can resolve something. The leaders need to be on the pitch,” he added.

“The leaders are the player who are not scared to play.

“We will see tomorrow and in the next games who are the leaders. For me, if you talk in the dressing room that doesn’t mean anything.

“Sometimes it can help but the most important is on the pitch.

“Pressure is always there. All my life I play with pressure, also my teammates.

“We are not scared to play. Everyone is trying to win. Everyone has a big motivation to win against Manchester United.”

Mourinho had questioned whether some United stars actually care playing for the club.

He said: “Every player is different, no player is the same.

“I see different actions but what you see is not really inside.

“I see upset people, some people that don’t look like they lost a game.

“I see so-so but in the little two sessions of training we had [since Saturday] everything was normal, desire to work and play.”
