Police make arrest at Cher’s Malibu home in connection with overdose death

A 23-year-old man suspected of providing Fentanyl to a person who died of an overdose in Ventura County was arrested today at Cher’s home in Malibu.

A search warrant was served by Ventura County sheriff’s investigators, resulting in the arrest of Donovan Ruiz, who lived at the residence and is the child of a someone who works there, authorities said. Cher is in the midst of a concert tour and is due to play shows Friday and Saturday in Brisbane, Australia, according to www.cher.com.

Ruiz will be booked on suspicion of furnishing narcotics that caused death, according to Ventura County sheriff’s Capt. Garo Kuredjian. Details about the overdose death, which happened in Thousand Oaks, were not immediately available. The victim died “a couple of weeks ago,” Kuredjian said.
