Iran’s National Security Council chief said the strong US sanctions were being “a tool” for Donald Trump to get “personal revenge” on states like Iran.
He indicated other states hit by sanctions, including China, were also being targeted because of personally-held grudges by Mr Trump.
Security chief Ali Shamkhani also called for more dialogue in the Middle East to avoid escalating tensions in a fiery news release today.
He said: “It’s essential to be fully aware and increase our constructive dialogues to neutralise the plots of enemies who want to create suspicion and disagreement among regional countries.”
