Hotmail login: What to do if you forget your password? How to change your password

Hotmail is the second biggest free email service provider in the world behind gmail.

Since being acquired by in 1997, Hotmail gives users access to other services provided by the company including Windows Live ID, Xbox Live and Skype.

Hotmail has now been modified to become Outlook.com so when users type in to look for their Hotmail account they will be taken to the Outlook website.

The systems are fully integrated meaning you do not need two logins.

Enter your hotmail email address and click next.

Then click on the ‘Forgot my password’ link.

This will take you to a page with one of three options to select – click on ‘I’ve forgotten my password’.

The next step is to verify your email address by typing it in followed by the characters and numbers you see on the screen.

You then need to select an account recovery option – either by text or a back-up email.

If you do not have either of these, select the “’I don’t have any of these’ and follow the options.

Otherwise, choose the email or text format and opt for ‘send code’.

You might need to wait a few seconds or minutes now depending on the speed of your internet.

But then you should receive the recovery code either texted or emailed to you as requested.

Copy and paste that onto the screen.

This will then allow you to create a new password which you must re-enter.

And finally that will get you your new password – remember to make a note of this time!
