The US online retail giant is currently announcing a swathe of new products at its HQ in Seattle including updates to its Echo smart speakers.

NEW ECHO DOT

Amazon’s popular budget speaker has got a new look and better sound in this latest upgrade.

The next-generation Echo Dot now features a softer fabric design and an all-new curved shape.

Along with this very nice new appearance, the Dot now has improved audio with Amazon boasting that it will sound 70 percent louder than its predecessor.

ECHO INPUT

The Echo Input is a brand new device that simply adds Alexa to any speaker you may own.

Unlike the Echo or Echo Dot there’s not internal speaker inside the device but this does make it incredibly slim – in fact it’s just is just 12.5mm tall.

Echo Input connects to your speaker through a 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth, and features a four-microphone array so you can talk to Alexa from across the room.

Echo Input will be coming later this year and will be available in Black and White and cost £34.99

ECHO SUB

There’s no question that the Amazon Echo is a brilliant device but one of its issues is that it simply doesn’t sound very good.

Amazon is clearly aware of this and so has announced the launch of Echo Sub.

Echo Sub is the first wireless Echo subwoofer for those who want to pump up the bass when listening to music on their existing or new Echo devices.

You can connect Echo Sub to compatible Echo devices to create a 1.1 or 2.1 pairing for stereo sound. Plus, with the equaliser feature you can adjust the bass, mid-range, and treble using the Alexa app.

The Echo Sub costs £119.99

NEW ECHO PLUS

The standard Echo speaker isn’t getting an upgrade this year but its more expensive sibling, the Echo Plus, is.

This speaker gets a new look and better smart home compatibility.

With its built-in Zigbee smart home hub, the all-new Echo Plus makes setting up compatible smart home devices easy.

Just say, “Alexa, discover my devices,” and Echo Plus will automatically discover and setup compatible lights, locks, plugs, switches, and more without the need for additional hubs or apps.

Echo Plus now includes an embedded temperature sensor, so you can set temperature-based routines using other smart home devices.

For example, when the living room reaches 26 degrees, Alexa can turn on a fan connected to a smart plug.

All-New Echo Plus will arrive soon and costs £139.99
