Fortnite servers are set to go offline later today to make way for scheduled maintenance and a new update.
Epic Games has confirmed that they plan to take servers down at around 9am in the UK.
Fans will start to be kicked around 20 minutes before scheduled maintenance begins and will likely last several hours.
Fans can expect the game to be back online by around 11am, unless Epic Games run into issues.
The good news is that official patch notes will be released during the downtime, and it appears that there will be plenty to read about.
We already know that a new item is being added to the game, while there are also rumours of a new weapon.
The “Port-a-Fortress” will be a new spin on the existing port item, although it appears it will build a much higher structure.
This is teased in the official description which confirms you can “Toss down the Port-a-Fortress and take defence to new heights.”
Epic Games announced the new update earlier this week, telling fans: “Upgrade your Fort in patch v5.41!
“This update is dropping in tomorrow, September 18 with downtime beginning at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).
Launching as part of this week’s update on September 18, it’s also believed to be a Legendary item, so don’t expect to see too many on the map.
“The Getaway LTM ends once downtime begins, so get out there and finish up those Challenges.”
The Getaway LTM is part of the High Stakes event which has been offering fans the chance to add new gear to their collection.
The game entails players tracking down four safes, which have been loaded into supply drops scattered around the island, each carrying a large jewel.
Players then need to crack the safe, pick up the prize and perform a neat getaway to an extraction van.
Epic Games has been changing up the format from duos to squads recently, and look set to remove the LTM altogether.
Here is some of the loot you can unlock by playing it before the new LTM ends:
- Play 10 matches of The Getaway – Get 5,000 XP
- Do 500 damage to Jewel carrying opponents – Unlock the Suited Up Spray
- Pick up a Jewel in 5 different matches of The Getaway LTM – Unlock the Cash Flow Contrail
- Complete all 3 Challenges – Unlock the Crowbar Pickaxe
Information may also start leaking about the end of Season 5, if the community data miners have anything to say about it.
With game’s purple cube honing in on Loot Lake, there’s a chance that some more details will be found in the new build.
It seems more likely that the juiciest details won’t be added to the game till a later date, however, that doesn’t mean some important stuff won’t be found today.
