The two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year was sent to Canada, along with Green, in the San Antonio Spurs’ blockbuster trade which included DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 2019 draft pick.
Many have claimed Leonard is not happy to be at the Raptors, and the 27-year-old will not be short of options should he decide to leave in 2019.
Los Angeles Lakers are said to be keen on Leonard but the new addition recently admitted he will consider extending his one-year deal with the Raptors should his first season go well.
And team-mate Green believes the small forward will find it hard to leave Toronto.
“I don’t know where his mind is at for the future,” he said on his Inside the Green Room podcast.
“I can’t predict or tell you.
“I can just tell you that the city of Toronto is gonna be hard to turn down after being there.
“I’ve been going every summer for the past 10-plus years.
“It’s a great city and the fans are amazing.
“The last couple weeks, just going up for a couple days here and there and how they’ve shown me so much love.
“As a Raptor now, I’m so much more well-known there and getting a great amount of feedback, a great amount of love and all types of different stuff from the fans, so it’s gonna be tough for him to turn down.”
Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri is certainly hoping to hang onto Leonard for longer than one season.
“We are who we are,” he said recently.
“I think you want to be genuine, you want to be real.
“You know, this is who we are.
“We might not be the best ones in weather, but we might be the best ones in many other places.
“The diversity, the city, the uniqueness of a place like [Toronto], fans, the atmosphere.
“I think those things are so unique, it’s beginning to show everywhere.
“Then you have to put the basketball together.
“Maybe before the basketball wasn’t a part of it, but I know there’s a part of him that I’m sure thinks this team has a chance.
“With his teammates and seeing how hard these guys are working.
“We have to show who we are.
“There is no fake sales job here – this is what it is.”
