Fortnite Season 5: When does Season 5 end and when does Season 6 start?

Epic Games are gearing up for one of the busiest times in Fortnite Battle Royale; the ending of one season and the beginning of another.

This usually includes some kind of big in-game event, possible rumours of Tilted Towers being destroyed and leaks concerning the next battle pass theme.

So far leaks have been thin on the ground, and there hasn’t been much in the way of hints when it comes to the next theme.

But from what has been shared by Epic Games, it looks like we know when Fortnite Season 5 ends.

According to the official battle pass site, Fortnite Season 5 is going to end on September 25.

That this is also a Tuesday adds credence to the idea that the development team will wrap things up on this date.

Epic Games are known to favour updates on Tuesdays, something that is expected with the end of season 5.

However, past seasons have also seen the development team announce extensions to this initial plan.

This is usually done so that everyone can complete their Fortnite battle pass. And while there’s no guarantee that this will happen during season 5, nothing is ruling it out either.

WHEN DOES FORTNITE SEASON 6 START?

But while season 5 has an official end date of sorts, Epic Games has said nothing on when season 6 will start.

Nothing has been announced on what might be coming next for season 6, with only a few leaks to go on.

According to the latest info, the purple cube currently in the game will kick off the big season 5 end event.

This could include Loot Lake and a volcano erupting where is used to be, but again, nothing has been confirmed by Epic Games.

Historically, new Fortnite seasons have begun the day after the preceding one finished.

So, that would mean – if all goes to plan – that Fortnite season 6 would have a release date of Tuesday, September 25.

However, there were previously rumours that the Fortnite season 5 end date had been delayed to Tuesday, October 2.

And now the plot has thickened even further as revealed in a post by the Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account.

They recently posted: “According to Fortnite’s API, Season 5 is still delayed to end on October 2nd [“seasonEnd”], but in game, it’s still shown to end on September 25th.”

Does this mean Epic Games are keeping their options open to ending Fortnite season 5 on either of those dates?

If season 6 does get pushed back, we can probably expect an announcement from Epic Games on the subject this coming week.

But fans probably don’t have to worry about the big in-game event being delayed.

That’s because for all intents and purposes, it looks like the game’s mysterious cube is heading toward its final destination.

The Fortnite cube first appeared on the Battle Royale map on Friday, August 24, and has since been moving around bit-by-bit.

In its wake, the Fortnite cube has been burning mysterious runes into the ground as it heads toward its final destination.

The Fortnite cube is expected to be moving towards Loot Lake on the Battle Royale map.

Leaks have shown that Fortnite fans will see the cube burn seven runes into the Battle Royale map before at last activating.

The last rune the Fortnite cube has most recently been printing into the ground is the sixth one, with just one rune left after that.

It’s believed that once the Fortnite cube leaves behind its seventh rune, it will then turn on and activate.

It looks like the Fortnite cube, after leaving behind its seventh rune, will move to a final destination and then activate.
