BREAKING: Numerous FLASH FLOOD warnings issued across North Carolina

The NWS issued flash flood warnings for Reidsville, Wentworth and Eden in North Carolina.

They later extended the warning to areas including China Grove and Landis in North Carolina.

Officials in Yadkin County, North Carolina are also reporting that flooding appears to be imminent.

In a statement released by officials, they said: “In gathering data from the National Weather Service and FIMAN (Flood Inundation Mapping and Alert Network) we have been made aware of the potential for major flooding in Yadkin County.

“This will be along the Yadkin River and associated feeder streams.

“This storm is producing large amounts of rainfall here in the county and in the mountains.

“The runoff from this rain is projected to crest the Yadkin River in Janesville to 26.6 feet at or around 12.00 noon tomorrow, Monday September 17.”

In a direct warning to residents, Yadkin County officials urged people living near water bodies to “keep a vigilant watch for the rise of water”.

They urged residents to evacuate before water reaches their properties and cuts them off.

The county may also implement emergency measures on Monday for the possibility of residents being forced to evacuate their homes.

They said: “The county may open shelters, if needed Monday, in the event you need to evacuate your homes or businesses.”

Headwaters Dam in Creston, New Carolina is also in imminent danger of breaching, according to Ashe County Emergency Management.

The agency commented on the situation, stating: “The dam in the Headwaters Development is close to capacity and is in danger of a breech.

“Anyone living downstream of 5010 Three Top Road should evacuate.”

Torrential rain from Tropical Depression Florence is expected to cause severe flooding in Ashe County for the next 24 to 48 hours.
