Fortnite season 6 release date SHOCK and huge season 5 Battle Royale event tipped

Battle Royale players have been handed some shock season 6 release date news as well as rumours of a major event fast approaching.

Fortnite fans are busy playing through week 10 of the Battle Pass with time running out for them to wring season 5 for all its worth.

Right now the Fortnite season 5 Battle Pass has a countdown showing how much time is left.

At the moment the countdown shows that Fortnite season 5 will finish on Monday September 24.

However, confusion has been sparked over when Fortnite season 6 will actually start.

Historically, new Fortnite seasons have begun the day after the preceding one finished.

So, that would mean – if all goes to plan – that Fortnite season 6 would have a release date of Tuesday September 25.

However, there were previously rumours that the Fortnite season 5 end date had been delayed to Tuesday October 2.

And now the plot has thickened even further as revealed in a post by the Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account.

They recently posted: “According to Fortnite’s API, Season 5 is still delayed to end on October 2nd [“seasonEnd”] but in game it’s still shown to end on September 25th.”

Does this mean Epic Games are keeping their options open to ending Fortnite season 5 on either of those dates?

The Cary-based developer has form in delaying new Battle Pass launches, with the season 3 and season 5 launches both delayed in Fortnite Battle Royale.

And depending on which week the new Battle Pass launches those playing Fortnite season 6 or season 5 could be treated to a big in-game event.

The one year anniversary for the release of Fortnite Battle Royale is fast approaching.

Epic Games has already held an in-game birthday event to mark one year since the launch of Fortnite Save The World.

But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Epic Games also marks the one year anniversary for the Fortnite Battle Royale release in a special way.

The Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter posted: “September 26th is the 1 Year Anniversary of Fortnite: Battle Royale.

“I would love to see a specific LTM dedicated to the old map and none of the new weapons.”

Could Epic Games be planning to make Fortnite Save The World free on September 26?

Or, alternatively, will they be launching Fortnite season 6 on that day to mark the big Battle Royale anniversary?

All will be revealed soon enough, but right now the event on the horizon that we know will be coming to a head shortly is the Fortnite cube.

The Fortnite cube spawned on the Battle Royale map over three weeks ago and since then has been moving around and burning runes into the ground.

It’s rumoured that the Fortnite cube will leave behind seven runes in total before finally activating by Loot Lake.

The sixth rune has been burnt by the Fortnite cube which means we’re fast approaching its end game.
