There was a time when it seemed obvious that Kylo Ren and Rey were heading for another very weird Star Wars flirtation.
The main obstacle was the initial conviction that Rey was a Skywalker and at least Kylo’s cousin (if not his secret sister). Despite The Force Awakens mirroring of A New Hope this has not come to pass.
The Last Jedi would have us believe Rey is not from any Star wars legacy family, so the path seems clear.
New leaks claims “intimate and emotional” scenes will be shot next month, but does anyone really want Rey to end up with the patricidal leader of an extreme fascist military army who idolises Darth Vader?
Those excruciatingly uncomfortable topless Kylo Ren scenes from The Last Jedi could pale into comparison if a new explicitly romantic storyline is pursued.
Nothing will ever plumb the depths of Anakin and Padme frolicking on a Naboo hillside but still…
A new report says: “Both Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are said to shoot a scene at Pinewood in the first week of October.
“It’s said to be a two-day shoot that will be very intimate and emotional and similar to the stone hut sequence in the Last Jedi.”
The pair share undeniable chemistry and a section of the fanbase is still rooting for a Reylo romance.
Rian Johnson previously said there was a romance angle in Episode 8 but unlike anything ever seen before in Star Wars.
‘Romance’ might be a stretch to describe the intense interplay across the galaxy between the potential heirs to the Dark and Light sides of the Force. However there is clearly something tying them together.
Many fans are still very invested in the idea of Reylo. And there have been other leaks and claims that Rey will have a young child n Episode 9.
Could Kylo Ren be the father. Could a child between these two be the one that finally brings balance between Light and Dark?
Ofcourse, many others hope Rey will turn out to be a secret Skywalker.
Either way, it is always important to take any of these leaks and reports with a healthy dose of skepticism. They may be based on truth but it still doesn’t mean it will end up in the final cut.
