Pokemon Go Raid COUNTDOWN: Shiny Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres start time and release date

It won’t be long before the latest Ultra Bonus is released by Niantic into Pokemon Go.

Having revealed their plans for the end of summer, Trainers now just have a short wait before the first raid battles begin.

For those that don’t know, Niantic is launching a wave of new rewards as a celebration of all the global challenges completed by players over the summer.

The new Ultra Bonus rewards will be available worldwide and start with some top Pokemon Go Raids.

“Throughout the past few months, many of you have worked hard to meet the goals of Professor Willow’s Global Research Challenge,” a message from Niantic explains.

“During the Dortmund Safari Zone event in June, Pokémon GO Fest in July, and the Yokosuka Safari Zone event in August, Trainers from all around the world completed a variety of research tasks for Professor Willow with dedication and enthusiasm.

“And now it’s time to celebrate with a special Ultra Bonus Event!”

SHINY RAIDS

Niantic has announced that they will be kicking off the new Ultra Bonuses with the release of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.

These will be available to battle at local gyms around the world and will be available until September 20.

Before the raid begins, a Raid Egg will appear on top of the Gym, and a countdown will display the time until the Egg hatches, and the battle begins.

Don’t worry if you miss a chance to join a Raid Battle as they happen frequently.

These new Raids shouldn’t be rare and will likely pop up very frequently when active in September.

The added bonus of being able to catch shiny versions of these legendary birds will be a draw for those who already have them in their collection.

The Raids will be going live on September 13, at around 9pm in the UK and will run for about a week.

“First, starting September 13 at 1:00 P.M. (PDT), Trainers all over the world will be able to encounter three Legendary Pokémon initially discovered in the Kanto region!

“Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will appear in Raid Battles until September 20.

“And if you’re lucky, you may be able to encounter their Shiny forms! Also, Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will appear more frequently all over the world and show up more frequently in Raid Battles until September 30.”

Before you can join a raid, you’ll need a Raid Pass, with three types of passes available: Raid Passes, Premium Raid Passes, and EX Raid Passes.

The Premium Raid Pass can be earned by spinning the Photo Disc at a Gym. You can only hold one Raid Pass at a time, and you can only receive one per day. This pass grants access to Tier 1-5 Raid Battles.

This is what you will need when battling Articuno, Zapdos, or Moltres, although you can also buy Premium Raid Passes.

If you have already used your Raid Pass, you can participate in another Raid Battle by purchasing a Premium Raid Pass from the Shop.

Unlike the Raid Pass, you can hold more than one Premium Raid Pass in your inventory at a time.

Following the release of the new legendary Raids, Trainers will also get the chance of facing off against Mewtwo, who will be available to battle for the first time in gyms.

This is happening straight after the birds vanish, meaning Trainers can ready themselves for a September 20 launch.
