Fortnite Shop TODAY: Season 5 skins return with new September update

Fortnite fans have the option of adding a whole set of skins to their collection today, following a new September update from Epic Games.

Fans have a few short days to grab the returning cosmetic items from the Fortnite shop, which join the new Wild Card skins.

A new wave of season 5 outfits and cosmetics are slowly released by the development team, although things are a little different this weekend.

Instead of seeing a new set of skins recently leaked by data miners head to the shop, Epic Games recently launched the High Stakes outfits.

These take the place of the usual change up on Sundays and are available to buy right now.

They’re different from other cosmetics as they are directly tied to the High Stakes event and aren’t available to buy all the time.

“Throughout the High Stakes event, the Wildcard outfit will be featured in the store periodically,” Epic Games explains.

“The outfit comes with 4 four swappable cosmetic masks, one for each of your crew and the “Cuff Case” back bling. Complete your getaway gear with the Safecracker glider!”

Until their return, fans can buy one of a number of skins and cosmetics that have been added to the Fortnite Shop today.

This includes The Cuddle, Fireworks, and P.A.N.D.A. Team Leader Outfits, which are all ranked as Epic items.

They all come with their own individual V-Bucks price tags, but aren’t all as pricey as Legendary skins.

The P.A.N.D.A Team Leader skin is the only Legendary bunch and costs 2,000 V-Bucks to buy.

The others currently retail at 1,500 V-Bucks and are available with other glider combos.

This collection of returning skins have already been featured in the shop and take the place of the usual leaked season 5 skins, a practice which has become commonplace in 2018.

Many of these skins have now appeared in the item shop, although fans can expect a steady stream of new content over the coming weeks.

One of the first new designs that were made available during season 5 was the Viking Magnus skin.

This was followed by the legendary Chomp Snr skin, as well as many unique axe designs from Epic Games.

Due to it being ranked in the highest rarity category, the Chomp Snr and Magnus outfits cost a hefty 2,000 V-Bucks each.

Fortnite fans can also pick up the returning Breakin emote for 800 V-Bucks, another in a long line of optional add-ons from Epic Games.

These new Fortnite season 5 skins and gear will be available over the next day before being replaced by more content from the development team.

It’s likely that the Wildcard outfits will be rotated back in following the latest skins that have been added to the shop.

As the development team notes whenever selling cosmetic items, this new gear will not provide any kind of bonus during a Battle Royale game.

They are purely cosmetic, so fans shouldn’t worry about spending cash in Fortnite unless they want to earn or buy new gear for their character.

The Tier 100 items will be the ones everyone will want to get their hands on, although that will take some dedication when it comes to completing weekly challenges.

The challenges are separated into hard and regular tiers of difficulty.

The hard difficulty Fortnite challenges net players ten Battle Stars, while the regular tasks reward fans with five Battle Stars.

Unlocking Battle Stars levels up your Battle Pass, which is how you unlock all the rewards on offer.

Season 5 also features bonus challenges that will net players specific items. The Road Trip challenges are similar to Blockbuster challenges from Season 4.

The Road Trip tier rewards players with special loading screens for fully completing all weekly challenges. These loading screens feature hidden Battle Star clues.

Fortnite Battle Royale is a free downloadable game currently available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Mac and Mobile iOS.
