Google Pixel 3 could arrive with a surprise feature fans were not expecting

Google Pixel 3 is one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of the year.

The device is expected to build upon everything its predecessors were praised for while also addressing fan concerns.

The Pixel 2 XL in particular was criticised for producing a blue tint on its OLED display when looked at from certain angles.

Pixel 3 is expected to arrive in a smaller 5.5-inch model and a larger variant measuring up at over six-inches that will surely be called the Pixel 3 XL.

While leaks have seemingly lifted the lid on both devices, it is the Google Pixel 3 XL that appears to have been plagued by the most outings.

Alleged units of multiple Pixel 3 XL devices have cropped up in recent weeks with Mobile Review seemingly producing one of the most detailed reports on the hardware yet.

Supposed Pixel 3 XL hardware was shown touting a radical all-screen design that featured a notch at the top.

The phone was also displayed running Android 9 Pie and boasted a single camera sensor on its rear.

This suggests Google will not follow trends set by other manufacturers that have introduced systems with double and triple lenses.

Pixel 3 XL’s camera has been rumoured to be 12.2 megapixels in quality, this would be the same as currently found on the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

However, the American tech giant would surely refine both the hardware and software to make for a more compelling snapper overall.

A recent report from Bloomberg declared Google could be planning to announce its new flagships on October 9 in New York City.

But it appears a surprise feature of the device has been outed ahead of such a debut.

An alleged Pixel 3 unit has already been shown sporting wireless charging thanks to a leak from Twitter user @khoroshev.

But it appears Google could be lining up a “Pixel Stand” for the new device that could provide charging functionality.

Code mentioning the product was displayed on XDA Developers – it hinted while the device is on the stand Google Assistant features could be placed at the forefront of the Pixel.

But now an alleged user interface has been found for the Google Assistant when the new Pixel is placed on the supposed dock.

First spotted by Android developer Kieron Quinn, images show a new look for the Google App that gives quick access to vital functions such as phone calls, setting timers and music playback.

The differentiating factor between charging the Pixel 3 on the dock and anywhere else is the personalisation options that have been hinted in the Google application’s code.

Modes for “personalised help” are mentioned, hinting users may be able to ask questions to the Assistant while the Pixel 3 is charging on the new dock even if it is locked.

This could allow the Pixel 3 to replicate functionality seen in Google Home.

Fans eagerly awaiting to see if the new rumours surrounding the Pixel 3 are true will not have to wait long.

The American tech giant is presumed to announce its new hardware on October 9.
