Fortnite challenges COUNTDOWN: Follow the treasure map found in Shifty Shafts for week 9

week 9 challenges are coming to Battle Royale with the Shifty Shafts treasure map task set to be the main attraction in the Battle Pass.

Fortnite week 9 challenges should have gone live today but the launch was pushed back by a day by Epic Games.

This came after the launch of Fortnite update 5.40 was also delayed by a day after a “critical” issue was discovered.

As with previous weeks during Fortnite season 5, the upcoming Fortnite challenges have allegedly been leaked by dataminers.

After rummaging through in-game files Fortnite leakers have listed what they claim to be the upcoming week 9 challenges.

In a post online Fortnite Tracker published the list of alleged Fortnite week 9 challenges.

Here is a list of the leaked Fortnite week 9 season 5 challenges:

FORTNITE SEASON 5 WEEK 9 – FREE CHALLENGES

• Deal damage with Explosive Weapons to opponents (500)

• Use an ATK (All Terrain Kart) (1)

• Follow the treasure map found in Shifty Shafts (HARD) (1)

FORTNITE SEASON 5 WEEK 9 – BATTKE PASS CHALLENGES

• Search Chests in Pleasant Park (7)

• Dance Off with another player near Loot Lake (1)

• Assault Rifle Eliminations (HARD) (5)

• Eliminate opponents in Tomato Temple (HARD) (3)

Because the leaked Fortnite challenges are pulled from in-game files it invariably turns out to be accurate.

However occasionally leaked Fortnite challenges are listed a week or two early.

The Fortnite week 9 season 5 challenges should be going live at 2pm BST on Friday September 7.

This is the penultimate week for Fortnite season 5 challenges with the Fortnite season 6 release date fast approaching.

The Fortnite Battle Pass has throughout season 5 been running a countdown saying how much time is left until season 6 launches.

Previously it said that Fortnite season 5 would end on Monday September 17 2018, but now it says it will end on Monday September 24.

This comes after rumours have surfaced that the Fortnite season 5 end date could get delayed even further until Tuesday October 2.

This could mean Fortnite season 6 would have a release date on Wednesday October 3 if it begins the day after the Fortnite season 5 end.

Alternatively, if the Fortnite season 6 release date is delayed by a day or two it could launch on Thursday October 4 or Friday October 5.
