PUBG 1.0 Xbox tips: Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene reveals how to win in Battlegrounds

PUBG has finally released in full on Xbox One, complete with a brand new map, game mode and in-game currency.

With Battlegrounds graduating from Xbox Preview to a full release, there’s likely to be an influx of new and returning players.

With room for only one winner, Express Online asked Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene for some PUBG tips and tricks.

Here’s to become a winner winner and get your very own chicken dinner.

“Don’t always look for a fight,” Greene explained when asked for some tips.

“This is a survival game, and it’s about winning. How you get there is completely up to you.

“That’s why I like the game mode, because there’s that freedom to play however you want. You can run around with a frying pan if you want, although I wouldn’t recommend it.”

However, according to Greene, while seasoned players should avoid conflict, new players should try dropping into combat hotspots.

“Initially, drop at some of the hotspots, because you will pick up very quickly how to play the game,” he continues.

“But then at this pro level you see that at the start you get away from players. You don’t worry about fighting so much, you’re worrying about getting your character up to a level that once you do engage, you know you’re going to win.

“That initial ten minutes should really be spent getting geared up.”

Players who do want to get used to the combat are encouraged to drop at the school and Pochinki, before adopting a calmer style when suitably proficient.

Fans who do jump in to PUBG this week will be able to try the brand new Sanhok map.

“Inspired by the islands across Southeast Asia, Sanhok is a 4×4 compact battleground,” Bluehole explains. “Along with the new map, we will introduce all-new weapons and vehicles for our players to enjoy.”

Update 1.0 also coincides with the release of War Mode, which will be available on select weekends and during special events.

War Mode is described as a deathmatch-style experience with respawns and a limited play area.

“Teams get points for knockdowns, kills, and for reviving teammates, and the team that reaches the points goal, or has the highest points when the match timer ends, wins the battle.”

There’s also the introduction of a new in-game currency for purchasing cosmetic items, as well as Xbox One Achievements.
