Fortnite update time: When is the next Fortnite update coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

Epic Games has gotten into the habit of dropping big new Battle Royale patches on Tuesdays.

So it makes sense that fans are waiting for the next Fortnite update to drop later today.

However, it appears things might run a little differently this week, with a new event in the works alongside the weekly battle pass challenges.

The new patch looks set to include a lot of fun new content to try out, including the High Stakes event.

This will add The Getaway LTM, a new heist-based game mode which sees teams battling it out to steal a jewelled Llama from one of a number of safes scattered across the island.

There will also be a new weapon of sorts to use in the new mode, with the Grappler Gun offering fans the chance to get the jump on their enemies.

A new Wildcard outfit will also be included in the High Stakes event, as well as special challenges to complete to unlock new gear.

All of this will no doubt be added to the game through the next major update on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch.

WHEN IS THE NEXT FORTNITE UPDATE?

While fans may be expecting the next Fortnite update to drop later today, it appears that Epic Games may have other plans.

The development team usually announces the next big patch through social media, something that hasn’t been done.

This provides information on if the new update will require downtime and at what time this will be taking place.

But as mentioned above, Epic Games hasn’t done that yet, making it likely that fans will have to wait until later this week.

A good bet will be on Fortnite update 5.40 dropping on Thursday, August 6, and if it does, you can expect it to arrive during morning time in the UK.

Other big updates have dropped on Thursdays, which is also when we see the new weekly challenges launched for the Battle Pass.

However, there’s also nothing stopping Epic Games releasing the new update tomorrow, August 5, either.

The best thing for Fortnite fans to do will be to keep an eye on the official Epic Games feeds for further information.

The good news is that when the new update does finally arrive, players will be able to complete the new High Stakes challenges for rewards.

FORTNITE HIGH STAKES CHALLENGES

  • Play 10 matches of the Getaway (5,000 XP)
  • Deal 500 damage to jewel carrying opponents (Spray)
  • Pick up a jewel in 5 different matches of the getaway (Contrail)
  • Complete all 3 challenges (Pickaxe)

It should be noted that the new Wildcard outfit, which includes its own special cuff backbling, will be available to buy from the Fortnite item shop.

Fortnite Battle Royale isn’t the only game being updated to the new 5.40 build, with a lot of new bugfixes expected to arrive for Save the World players too.

Epic Games has already outlined their plans for this, so more could be shared through the in-game notification menu later today.
