NBA 2K19 Prelude release date news and MyNBA2K19 App UPGRADE

Fans won’t have to wait long to get their first taste of NBA 2K19 games action.

The popular franchise returns this year on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, with more features and tweaks promised.

But one that’s always sure to prove popular with fans is the NBA 2K19 Prelude demo, which now has a set release date.

The Prelude demo will be available to download for free on PS4 and Xbox One on Friday, August 31.

The Prelude gives players a sneak preview of what new content will be in 2K19 and a chance to get used to the new mechanics.

This new demo is unfortunately limited to just the above-mentioned consoles, with nothing planned for PC or Nintendo Switch.

When it comes to release time, fans are hoping that 2K will do the same as last year and launch it in the early morning.

The Prelude in 2018 became available to download and play at 12:01AM EST globally, meaning a nice early start of 5am BST in the UK.

Character creation, offline matches, and Career Mode are all likely to feature, as well as updated graphics and team rosters for 2019.

The good news for fans hoping to get started early on The Prelude is that they should also have access to the game’s companion app.

MyNBA2K19 has its own features, including the ability to scan your face into NBA 2K19 from your mobile device.

It also provides daily opportunities to earn Virtual Currency and has its own collectable card battling game.

Fans should now be able to download the app now if they fancy scanning their face to begin their career with The Prelude when it launches this Friday, August 31st.

Here are some of the key features of the MyNBA2K19 app:

  • Reigning Threes returns as a permanent mode! Earn unique points to spend in the Reigning Threes store each month.
  • Invite teammates and friends to join you in 2 On 2 matches.

Earn in-game rewards by completing daily missions, and compete for top cards in weekly events including King of the Court, Gauntlet, and Rivals Clash.

Changes made for MyNBA2K19:

  • Reigning Threes has been updated to a mode that can be played at any time.
  • Earn currency unique to this mode and use it monthly to purchase items in the Reigning Threes store
  • 2 On 2 mode has been improved in the following ways:
  • Based on feedback from the community last year, we’ve added an “Invite” feature which allows you to invite Teammates and Friends to join you in a 2 On 2 match
  • You only play one game at a time now
  • You climb your own reward ladder as you play matches (they no longer need to be consecutive)
  • Updated Profile
  • Now displays your top 5 player cards, which determine your potential draft board pull rewards
  • New Cards
  • More than 400 new cards

The NBA 2K19 Standard Edition will be available on September 11, 2018. The 20th Anniversary Edition will be available on September 7, 2018. Pre-orders for both editions are available now.

UK audiences can grab a copy on Amazon for £47.99 on Xbox One and PS4, or £54.99 on Nintendo Switch.

Two of Basketball’s most famous players are on the front cover of this year’s NBA game.

Gianni’s Antetokounmpo splashes the cover of the standard version, while LeBron James is on the front of the Anniversary Edition.

The Prelude Demo will be available to play from this Friday all the way through to the release of NBA 2K19 on September 11.

Speaking about the launch earlier this year, NBA Superstar LeBron James talked about being chosen to represent the league in 2019.

“It’s humbling to be on the 20th anniversary cover of a game I’ve played and loved since I was a little kid,” said James.

“We were able to do something really unique for the cover that represents everything that drives me and inspires me – from my family to where I come from and words I live by. I’m honoured my journey can be part of this special time in 2K history, and I’m excited for fans to see it.”
