John McCain’s widow, Cindy, among HOPEFUL’S for husband’s Senate seat

Rumours have been circulating over the weekend about who would replace the former presidential candidate in his Senate seat in Arizona.

Republicans in Arizona told the New York Times she is on the list of considered candidates for the seat.

Others under consideration include former Arizona House representatives John Shadegg and Matt Salmon.

Ms McCain is a philanthropist and businesswoman and chair of beer wholesaler Hensley and Co.

She is also the majority owner of the company.

As her husband’s health was worsening, she began representing him at various public events.

She would be the first female to represent the state in the Senate if selected by Doug Ducey, Governor of Arizona.

Ms McCain also used to be the chairwoman of HALO USA, a humanitarian group that focuses on removing landmines and other explosives.

Over the last few years, she has spoken out for those affected by human trafficking calling for state and federal registration to prevent it.

She was also previously considered for a role as an “ambassador-at-large in Washington for the State Department with a focus on issues such as human trafficking.

However, she was not chosen in the end.

Cindy McCain was married to John for more than 37 years.

Over the last few months, she has attended events in her husband’s name such as a ceremony honouring him at Grand Canyon National Park.

Governor Ducey’s choice would serve until 2020 when a special election would be held.

The winner of the special election would then be in office until 2022.

Mr Ducey has remained silent on the replacement for John McCain would be due to his bad health.

And he will not make the final announcement until after the funeral out of respect.
