Importance Of Games In A Student’s Life

Games help in keeping our body and minds healthy. Games especially play an integral role in a student’s life. More than often, parents ask their children to focus on studies and not waste their time in playing games. But, what they fail to understand is the fact that games and sports help in instilling a sense of discipline in a student and make them fit mentally and physically. It also helps in building the self-confidence of a child. It also leads to the development of social skills and reduces stress.

When children play, they get to learn to interact with new people. They feel more comfortable in socializing and making new friends. Also, when kids indulge themselves in games, they feel stress-free. People who play some game or the other are known to have lesser chances of depression. Playing games also teach the child to work in teams. Games require a child to have cooperation and coordination with the team members in order to get success. Hence, a child at a very young age learns the importance of working in teams with the help of games.

People also tend to be happier when they play games. It also teaches them to have the capability to cope with physical and emotional pain. Schools should stress the importance of games and sports in a student’s life. People who are in the field of sports have excelled and have always spoken about how one should let a child play. Studies are important but games are important too. Be it indoor games like carom, table tennis, chess or outdoor games like cricket, football, Kabaddi, basketball or any other game that the child finds interesting, parents should encourage them. Parents should be a child’s motivator and should understand that games and sports are as important as studies.

Studying all the time might make the child feel pressurized and tensed. Games are a great way to de-stress and enjoy life. Not playing games makes a child very dull and introvert. He/she tries to hide behind books at all times and not interact with people. Books do make a person knowledgeable but sports and games teach life lessons which come into use at a later stage in life. One should encourage the children to play and do what they enjoy. This is the stage when a child grows and learns about various things. Games help them to learn and enjoy life.
