Star Wars 9 star Oscar Isaac taking over as new BATMAN? Is Ben Affleck OUT?

Isaac is suddenly and simultaneously making headlines for two of the biggest movie franchise in cinema history.

Earlier this week the first pictures emerged of the actor filming Star Wars Episode 9 in the UK.

At the same time time, reporst are swirling in Hollywood that he has been having talks with Warner Bros regarding their DC movies.

The Matt Reeves Batman movie is in production but has had the bumpiest of roads so far. With Ben Affleck returning to rehab for a fourth time, is Isaac poised to take over as the Caped Crusader?

Fans seem overwhelmingly positive at the prospect of Isaccas joining the project and not because he is a major Star Wars icon. The actor’s abilities and on-screen presence drew attention in movies like A Most Violent Year and Inside Llewyn Davis long before he became a blockbuster lead.

Illustrator Bosslogic is almost quick on visualising hyped comicbook movie roles and has already created the first look at Isaac as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Omega Underground broke the story: “Omega Underground has learned from sources that Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac (Operation Finale, The Promise, Ex Machina) has met with Warner Bros for an undisclosed role in The Batman. An offer hasn’t been made but there is talk that Oscar is very interested in being part of the movie.”

All teh current reports are stressing that which role Isaac could take is not clear.

As exciting as the prospect of him taking over in the Batcave may be, there is also an equally tantalising chance he could be up for iconic nemsis Oswald Cobblepot, aka Penguin.

Variety has already teased that Penguin is lining up to be the main villain for the Batman movie or Margot Robbie’s upcoming Birds of Prey.

However since TheWrap recently broke the news with an exclusive claim that Black Mask will be the primary villain in Birds of Prey, Penguin is looking more likely for The Batman movie.

Ben Affleck is still confirmed as a producer for The Batman standalone but his involvement on screen is looking increasingly uncertain.

There have also been numerous reports that WB wants to movie to examine a younger version of the superhero, leaving speculation that Affleck could return as Batman in any future Justice League group outings but not in the standalone.

If Isaac does land a major role in the Batman movie he will be one of the few stars to take a leading role in Star Wars, DC and Marvel adaptations, since he also played Apoca;ypse in the X-Men movie of the same name.
