LG Gram UK release – Slim laptop takes aim at Apple MacBook

The LG Gram is the South Korean tech giant’s solution to being productive on the go and offers capable specifications in a shell that comes in at 0.965kilograms if you opt for the smallest version.

The device is now available in the UK and comes in 13.3, 14 and 15.6-inch sizes.

Although LG has dubbed the laptop line Gram, the biggest version of the hardware actually comes in at just over a kilogram.

The new devices are made from a nano carbon magnesium full metal body the South Korean tech giant claims will be incredibly durable, meaning you shouldn’t have to worry about throwing it in your backpack.

Each variant of the Gram comes with a 1080p screen – bezels on the side and top of the device are minimal but the chin at the bottom of the laptop is very noticeable.

A fingerprint sensor is also present under the power button, meaning customers will not have to repeatedly enter their passcode.

During our hands-on time with the hardware, Express.co.uk can confirm the keyboard is very responsive and offers an appreciated travel distance.

The LG Gram’s trackpad supports multi-touch gestures and, while it is not quite as big as seen on Apple’s newest MacBook Pro’s, it feels very intuitive.

The internals of the product vary on the screen size with the 13 and 15.6-inch models only being fitted with an Intel Core i5 while the 14-inch boasts i5 and i7 variants.

However all models of the laptop come with 256GB of SSD storage.

A variety of ports are touted on the LG Gram with MicroSD, USB 3.0, HDMI and USB-C all making an appearance.

LG are claiming the smallest version of the hardware will be capable of delivering over 22 hours of battery life in certain use cases.

The company has added the 14 and 15.6-inch models are able to achieve 21.5 and 19 hours respectively.

Colour options are limited with the LG Gram with the 13 and 14-inch models only being available in silver coats of paint.

However, the 15.6-inch model is available in silver and white.

LG gram starts at £1,349 for the 13-inch version with an Intel Core i5 inside and goes up to as high as £1,549 for the 14-inch model with an Intel Core i7.

But Currys is currently discounting the LG Gram, meaning the baseline 13-inch model is now selling for £999, marking a sizeable price cut of £350.
