Fortnite news: 2FA Boogie Down account rewards, moving cube and secret battle star

Epic Games has made a lot of new announcements this week for their hit spin-off mode, Fortnite Battle Royale.

This has included rewards for enabling 2FA for your Fortnite account, as well as adding a mysterious moving cube to the game.

There has also been the usual challenges update, with week 7 seeing a significant leak in connection with the secret battle star skin.

As many will already know, 2FA stands for two-factor authentication, a simple but effective way of protecting your Epic Games account.

The team behind the hit game have been trying to encourage players to adopt, making it much harder for hackers to steal accounts.

Here’s more about 2FA from Epic Games, who explain: “If you opt into the 2FA feature, each time you sign in using your password, you’ll receive a security code that is good for one use, over a short period of time.

“The security code will be sent to you through the verification method that you selected in your account settings.

“Currently, 2FA security codes can be received through either an authentication app or via your Epic Games email address.”

And it’s not just added security that is being offered with Fortnite’s 2FA system.

Fans can also add the Boogie Down emote to their accounts for free, if they enable two-factor authentication.

HOW TO ENABLE 2FA IN FORTNITE

To enable 2FA and earn the Boogie Down emote for free, players will need to head over to the official Epic Games website and access your account.

When you have provided your name and password, you will need to click the security tab, where it’s possible to change your password.

You can also scroll down and look at the two 2FA options available to use for Fortnite Battle Royale, which includes using an Authentication App, or an email password.

This week has seen a mysterious purple cube spawned on the Battle Royale map in the spot which lightning that was being fired from the Rift had been hitting.

The cube is covered in symbols and when players stand by it fills their shield up – but if they touch it the cube sends them flying.

The appearance of the purple cube also saw the Rift that has been in the Fortnite Battle Royale sky since the rocket launch finally close up.

The mysterious cube event occurred following the release of Fortnite update 5.30 on Thursday and just a few weeks ahead of the start of Fortnite season 6.

Like with the rocket launch before it and the meteor strike before that, it seems likely that the cube could play a big part in the next Battle Pass.

The Fortnite Road Trip skin has been leaked, which is part of the ongoing secret battle star hunt.

Epic Games have launched a brand new update for players to download which features the new Rift-To-Go item and adds the Score Royale LTM.

Soon after Fortnite update 5.30 was released at 9am BST on Thursday dataminers started rummaging through the game files to discover leaked skins.

And one of the biggest finds of the day was the Fortnite Road Trip skin being unearthed.

For those of you not in the know, the Fortnite Road Trip skin will become unlocked once all weekly Road Trip challenges for season 5 are completed.

Fortnite season 4 had something similar with the weekly Blockbuster challenges and the reward for completing it was the Visitor skin.

This ended up having a pivotal role in Fortnite season 5, as the Visitor was the one who launched the Rocket at the end of season 4.

This rocket launch created the huge crack in the Fortnite Battle Royale sky which has been crucial to the ‘Worlds Collide’ theme of season 5.
