Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho reveals ‘nobody is happy’ in worrying insight ahead of Spurs

Manchester United boss Mourinho is under pressure to lift the doom and gloom mood that has already threatened to derail their Premier League campaign.

The 55-year-old has cut a frustrated figure in recent times – still seething at Ed Woodward’s failure to sign one of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire or Yerry Mina throughout the summer.

Manchester United face Tottenham on Monday with Manchester City’s draw with Wolves handing them the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table.

But Mourinho has admitted ‘nobody is happy’ ahead of the showdown.

“I think nobody is happy, obviously,” he told MUTV.

“But I have enough experience to know that in football you cannot look back for good results, for bad results and you have always to look to the next one. That’s our life.

“So, I’m really happy with the work we did in the week, with the players’ commitment and I look forward for the game.

“You can look at [having to wait until Monday] from two different perspectives.

“By one side I would say yes [it is frustrating] but, on another side, I would say we need time to work and some time to try to recover some players from injury, so it was not bad for us.”

United have endured a mixed campaign to the new season.

They beat Leicester 2-1 in their Premier League opener with Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw on target.

But they slipped to a dire 3-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium a week ago.

And Jose Mourinho thinks his side have been making too many mistakes.

He said: “You know, just looking to Leicester and Brighton.

“Against Leicester we didn’t make mistakes, we played well, we won. Against Brighton, we made mistakes, we paid for the mistakes and we lost.

“So, I think you look at football in a very pragmatic way, normally you get what you deserve, so if we want to win against a good team against Tottenham, we cannot make mistakes.”
