Games with Gold September 2018: New BONUS ahead of Xbox One free games news

It won’t be long before we find out the new Games with Gold September 2018 lineup being cooked up for next month.

But before then, fans can enjoy a special free bonus currently available on Xbox One.

From now until Monday, August 27, players can try out Blizzard’s team shooter, Overwatch.

The good news is that all the current content available in-game will be open for everyone try out during the free weekend.

“If you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you’ll be able to play with the full Overwatch roster of 28 heroes––including the newly released Wrecking Ball––across 18 maps set around the globe,” Blizzard confirms.

“You’ll have full access to Quick Play, Custom Games, and a variety of unique play options in the Arcade.

“Player progression is unlocked as well, so you’ll be able to level up and earn limited-time Summer Games Loot Boxes.

“Plus, if you decide to purchase Overwatch, either this weekend or at a later date, you’ll keep any progress you made and achievements earned during the free weekend event––just be sure to use the same Xbox Live account that you played on.”

And it will be a pleasant little interlude for those Games with Gold subscribers waiting to find out the full list of new titles coming to consoles in September.

Traditionally, Microsoft has announced their free Xbox One games roster before Sony; however, this format has changed a little in recent months.

Gold subscribers have been left waiting a little longer in both June and July, meaning we could see something like that for the Games with Gold September 2018 announcement.

This month has seen Microsoft launch both Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor as part of their free games bonus.

And for those waiting to see what might replace the racer next month, it looks like you may be waiting a couple of days.

Monday, August 27, looks to be the next viable date Microsoft will spill the beans, having left sharing the information so late in July.

There have been no leaks suggesting what could be coming next, so it remains a mystery what Microsoft may include.

For those who don’t know, Games with Gold offers free Xbox games to qualifying Xbox Live Gold members.

The program provides Gold members with free games every month, worth up to $700 per year, according to Microsoft.

Games with Gold is available to all Xbox Live Gold members, which can be redeemed from the Gold widget on the Xbox One home screen.

Titles can also be found if you download the Xbox One SmartGlass app, and go to the Microsoft Store and then page right.

When you select a game, it’ll be stored in your account and ready for download when you sign in to your console.

It should also be noted that new Games with Gold titles become available on the first and the sixteenth day of every month.

The new Games with Gold August 2018 lineup could be announced in the coming days, or, Microsoft may wait until next week before revealing what they have planned.
