Arsenal player ratings vs West Ham: Super substitutes impress – but who failed to deliver?

Arsenal came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 to record Unai Emery’s first Premier League victory at the Emirates.

The Spanish boss came under early pressure after defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea in the opening weeks of the season.

But today’s performance will come as a welcome relief for Emery who will have enjoyed the comfortable afternoon on home turf.

Nacho Monreal scored the equaliser for the Gunners after Marko Arnautovic put the Hammers ahead in the first half.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang combined for Arsenal’s second goal, though the killer touch came off West Ham defender Issa Diop who marked his debut with an own goal.

Danny Welbeck rounded off the victory with a late goal, and the Gunners will rest easy tonight with the weight of gaining their first points in the post-Arsene Wenger world off their shoulders.

Mesut Ozil was not included for selection today after suffering from a reported illness, but Alexandre Lacazette provided enough spark from the bench to grab the three points.

The Frenchman will be hoping for more starts under Emery after showing flashes of great potential alongside Aubameyang.

Aubameyang himself has failed to score in 2018/19 so far, but saw a couple of threatening efforts quashed by the Hammers defence.

Youngster Matteo Guendouzi failed to inspire in the middle of the park, though fellow new boy Lucas Torreira impressed from the bench.

Aaron Ramsey grew into the game after a rusty start, while Alex Iwobi looked bright before being subbed off at half time.
