Sony has confirmed that the current server status is offline for all major PS4 network services.
The PSN is down in the United States and the UK, with players struggling to use most of the PS4 and PS4 Pro’s features.
Some fans are confirming that maintenance messages are flashing up on screen, even though there is none scheduled for tonight.
A message on the official PlayStation status page confirms the outage is affecting PS4 gamers, as well as those on PS3 and PS Vita.
“You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features,” a message from Sony reads.
“Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”
The large outage has hit all of Sony’s major PlayStation Network services, leaving many gamers unable to get online.
This includes account management services, sign in, gaming and social, as well as PlayStation Vue and Music.
It’s unclear what has caused tonight’s outage, or how long it might last.
“Down in Alabama. Check network status in settings…even Sony has a red flag on all services,” one user writes.
Another adds: This is crazy, I’m in the middle of a raid and it shuts down on me, won’t let me access anything.”
As mentioned above this latest outage means that online games such as Fortnite and Destiny 2 will remain unplayable until PSN servers are back online.
