If you have ever accidentally sent a message on , or instantly regretted a particular picture you have sent on the app, don’t worry, you can now delete it.

WhatsApp users can now delete messages before they are delivered and entire chats from their phone in a few simple steps.

WhatsApp is available on both iOS and Android devices, with both versions able to delete messages.

Express.co.uk explains how to delete WhatsApp chats and also how to save your chat history.

How to delete WhatsApp messages and chats

If you are in the position where you have just sent a message you did not mean to send, you can delete it before it is delivered if you are quick enough.

The process for deleting messages is the same on both Android and iOS, as well as PC.

In order to do this, anyone you have recently sent a message to will need to be on the latest version of WhatsApp.

Note that this fix will not stop people from seeing the message if they opened it before you deleted it.

To delete a particular message form your chat, and hold your finger on the message until a pop-up appears.

Tap Delete from the menu. You can also delete multiple messages at the same time.

If you are in a group chat you can tap Delete for Everyone to get rid of the message from the group.

Instead of a message, a little bar will appear in the chat that says Message was Deleted.

To delete an entire chat it is the same process.

Tap and hold on the chat you want to delete until a pop-up appears.

Tap Delete and the chat will disappear.

How to save a WhatsApp chat?

You can also save a WhatsApp chat to read later, though the process is a little complicated.

To do this, open the chat you want to save and tap on the menu button.

Tap more, and then go to Email Chat.

You can then choose to email the chat to any email address as either open text or as an attachment.
