Many have reported the service, that covers both Outlook and Hotmail accounts, is not working and shared their frustrations on social media.
One said: “I’m trying to reset my password but the system is down – has been for the last few hours, in fact. Any timeline to getting it fixed?”
The user then posted an image of the error message they were encountering when trying to access their emails.
It read: “There’s a temporary problem.
“There’s a temporary problem with the service. Please try again.
“If you continue to get this message, try again later.”
Another user similarly expressed their frustration at the service being down.
They declared: “Wanted to spend the morning doing emails but Outlook is down greattttt.”
At 1pm website DownDetector registered over 100 reports from users declaring the service was not working correctly.
Express.co.uk has asked Microsoft to comment on the matter and to clarify whether this was part of a planned outage for Outlook.
