Man City team news: Predicted Man City line up vs Wolves – Sterling, Mahrez or Sane in XI?

Manchester City have got their Premier League title defence off to a flying start with two wins from their opening two matches.

Victory over Arsenal was followed up by a thumping 6-1 triumph against Huddersfield last weekend with .

Next in the firing line for Pep Guardiola’s side is newly-promoted Wolves, and the Midlands outfit have earned just a single point from their opening fixtures against Everton and Southampton.

City boss Guardiola raised plenty of eyebrows with his team selection against the Terriers last time out, with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez all left on the bench.

At least one of the trio would hope to come back in against Wolves, with Sterling most likely after remaining an unused substitute against David Wagner’s team.

Meanwhile, there was no space in the starting XI for Kyle Walker at the Etihad as Bernardo Silva was preferred in the right wing-back role.

Silva’s namesake David put in a sparkling display on his return to action, meaning the Spaniard is expected to keep his spot with Kevin De Bruyne ruled out.

The Belgian’s knee ligament damage has also created an opportunity for Ilkay Gundogan, while Guardiola confounded pundits by starting both Aguero and Gabriel Jesus together last weekend.

A fluid 3-5-2 formation against Wolves would once again offer the opportunity for both strikers to play up top, although a return to 4-3-3 seems likely with Guardiola opting for pace in attack away from home.

This would mean a recall for Walker with one of the central defenders dropping out while Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan could also make way.

Elsewhere, back-up goalkeeper Claudio Bravo could be out for the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles injury in training.

Danilo and Eliaquim Mangala are also sidelined as City’s defensive depth is tested.
