Forget Fortnite Battle Royale on Android, Epic Games could be looking at another big port

Found on all the leading platforms, Fortnite Battle Royale is available to play on a swathe of different devices.

And while not all include the killer features of crossplay and account sharing, there’s still plenty of ways to enjoy the game.

Fortnite on Android is now releasing across a wide range of devices, albeit in a beta version.

The game itself has access to both mobile servers and other crossplay devices, such as PS4 and Xbox One.

But now it looks like another port of Fortnite Battle Royale might be in the works.

Data miners believe they may have found evidence that Apple TV will be the be the next device to receive the free-to-play game.

A single line of code has been found that shares a reference to the platform, which has got some fans excited.

The “tvOS,” code means Fortnite Battle Royale could be arriving later in 2018 on Apple’s latest generation of set-top boxes.

It should be noted that this information has not been shared by Apple or Fortnite officially, and should be therefore be taken with a big pinch of salt.

And while the game would likely cost nothing to download on Apple TV, there would be other costs to consider.

It wouldn’t be the first set-top box to get access to the popular Battle Royale game.

Fortnite is also available to play on the Shield TV, which can be found by using the GeForce Experience beta.

This game is streamed straight from the servers, meaning it’s heavily dependant on a good internet connection.

It follows the news that a new Fortnite update is being released this week, albeit at a later date than usual.

It has now been confirmed that Fortnite update 5.3 will be released, alongside patch notes, on Thursday.

And this move is also set to disrupt the launch of the new Fortnite Challenges, which are being pushed back until Friday, August 24.

However, while the timing will be different, it seems inevitable that most of the other details will be the same.

You can still expect the new update to land in the morning, probably at 9am, BST.

This will likely mean players being booted from games 20 minutes before server downtime begins.

And maintenance is expected, as this week’s Fortnite update is likely to be more than a simple content patch.
