Real Madrid news: Man Utd star Pogba ‘has head turned’, Hazard fears, Courtois warning

Real Madrid and Barcelona have been blamed for Pogba reportedly wanting to leave Manchester United.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson thinks the La Liga duo have turned the player’s head, saying: “I’d rather Jose be happy than Pogba. But as we saw last season, Pogba didn’t pull up too many trees.

“He had a great World Cup, don’t get me wrong. But it’s always the same with players. Real Madrid and Barcelona come in for you and it turns people’s heads.

“Everyone wants to play for those two teams, that’s the way it is around the world. We see it with [Philippe] Coutinho and other players.

“It’s turned his head and you’re going to have the agent [Mino Raiola] joining in with his little quotes to the newspapers, things like that. He’s a World Cup winner now.”

Chelsea star Hazard fears he has missed out on a move to Real Madrid.

The Belgium international would relish the chance to move to the Bernabeu, with the club yet to invest in a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus last month.

And the Irish Independent say Hazard fears Chelsea’s stance on him will see him stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are planning to offer him a new deal.

And it is suggested that, if Chelsea thrive under Maurizio Sarri, the forward will persevere with life in west London.

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has issued a warning to Courtois after his move from Chelsea.

He said: “There isn’t a magic formula. We need to manage it week by week.

“We will see as we go who is best for the team at any given time. We have two magnificent goalkeepers, and others as well.

“But of course these are two international-level keepers and we will try to manage it well and make decisions for the team.

“Of course there is huge competition for the team but I see it as something positive in that position. It’s good for the team to have competition.”

Lopetegui has also insisted he is happy with his current options with Real yet to replace Ronaldo this transfer window.

He said: “Right now we’re focusing on getting the best out of the squad we have which is a squad we love, we have a lot of talent and we’re going to work with it/

“We like the players we have and I have no doubts about the squad I have.

“Our players have a fantastic attitude, and people are going to see a Madrid side with a lot of talent.

“The important players are the ones that are here, not the ones that are not.”
