Man Utd news: Pochettino wants job, Pogba makes Barcelona decision, Alderweireld expected

Manchester United would tempt Pochettino into leaving Tottenham, according to pundit Jermaine Jenas.

He told the Daily Star: “I think they’ve (Man United) been after him (Pochettino) for a long time to be honest with you.

“It’d be a huge test. I think deep down that’s the one Pochettino wants. There’s only United and Real Madrid that I think really take his fancy.

“If that did happen [Mourinho leaves Man Utd], it would not surprise me if United go really hard for Pochettino. And, given what’s happened at Spurs, I’d be surprised if he stayed.”

Manchester United are still persevering with Mourinho despite his doom and gloom mood.

Pogba still wants to leave Manchester United for Barcelona.

That’s according to the Daily Mail who say that, despite Jose Mourinho’s comments yesterday, he still wants out.

The Red Devils boss lauded the France international ahead of their Premier League showdown with Brighton this Sunday.

But Pogba, it seems, is hellbent on moving to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona are, though unlikely to make a bid this month having signed Arthur Melo, Arturo Vidal, Malcom and Clement Lenglet this summer.

Jenas also thinks Manchester United will land Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld in January.

He said: “I think his age and the fact that he’s started to pick up a few injuries doesn’t help Toby.

“From United’s point of view they were saying ‘why should we pay £60million when we can get him for £25million in January?’.

“I’m almost certain if he’s not gone by the end of this window already, then he’ll go to United [in January].”

Andreas Pereira believes he can contribute to Manchester United’s cause this season after returning from a loan spell with Valencia.

“It was very important for me, the two loans. I think I’ve totally changed after the two loans – I’m more mature, playing like an adult,” he said.

“I think I really grew up into football over there.

“I think they really helped me and I think if I stayed here I wouldn’t have had the progression that I had when I went on loan, so I think it helped me a lot.

“It was good for me, I got stronger from it, I’m more of an all-round player and I’m more ready to play now.”
