This rare £2 coin has sold for the whopping sum of £205.

The 2012 Charles Dickens £2 was created to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of the British writer.

The coin, with a reverse designed by Matthew Dent, reads “Something will turn up” along the edge.

There are 8,190,000 meaning the coin is not rare, but the seller claims the minting errors add to its value.

Seller Michaelson2518 said: “Super rare misprinted 1812 Charles dickens 1870 £2 coin 4 errors.

The writing along the side is upside down from the queens head

“The dots circling the queens head is half missing

“With the writing along the side the word will is spelled with 2 i’s spelled like this WIIL

“And last but not least the writing around the side is not central the writing starts with being very close to the top edge and ends much closer to the bottom edge.” [sic]

Continuing on with the description, they added: “And one more thing I thought I might throw in a lot of the letters they don’t seem to be edged in properly for example in the word something the e looks like I and in the same word something the T also looks very misplaced.

“Good condition. Definitely a collectors item very rare coin.” [sic]

The coin shows a portrait of Dickens’ profile created from the titles of his books.

They include titles such as “Christmas Carol” and “Oliver Twist”.
