Games with Gold August 2018 UPDATE: Xbox One free games countdown

Microsoft has provided a substantial list of free Xbox One games to download in August.

Having confirmed their lineup up late last month, it was confirmed that some high-profile choice had been made.

This included adding Forza Horizon 2 as a free Games with Gold download in August.

This was coupled with a free Xbox 360 game to download, with Dead Space 3 currently available on both platforms.

And soon Microsoft will be adding a few more games to their Gold lineup, one which could prove very popular with fans.

Taking the place of July Death Squared, Ubisoft’s For Honor will be available to download tomorrow, August 16.

The hack ‘n’ slash fighting game will be downloadable as a free Xbox One game until September 15, when it will be replaced by another title.

Dead Space 3 will be replaced by another Xbox 360 game, with Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two available to download until the end of the month.

For Honor has come a long way since launch, and a fresh injection of players should give the online combat a considerable boost.

Forza Horizon 2, on the other hand, is a bonafide classic, and one of the best racing games of this generation.

There’s also the big bonus of the For Honor Season 6 event kicking off earlier this month, bringing new content to the game.

Arguably the most significant new addition is the Beachhead map, which is a free download available to all players.

Then there’s the Visual Collection, which will make it easier to keep track of cosmetic items.

“Hero’s March also includes the Visual Collection, a new feature that lets players track their cosmetic visuals in a menu separate from their inventory, and then apply them to any gear they have, meaning you won’t need to hang on to excess gear just to hang on to its look,” Ubisoft explains.

Fans can also expect big changes to the Orochi and Peacekeeper.

For those who don’t know, Games with Gold offers free Xbox games to qualifying Xbox Live Gold members.

The program provides Gold members with free games every month, worth up to $700 per year, according to Microsoft.

Games with Gold is available to all Xbox Live Gold members, which can be redeemed from the Gold widget on the Xbox One home screen.

Titles can also be found if you download the Xbox One SmartGlass app, and go to the Microsoft Store and then page right.

When you select a game, it’ll be stored in your account and ready for download when you sign in to your console.

It should also be noted that new Games with Gold titles become available on the first and the sixteenth day of every month.

The new Games with Gold August 2018 lineup could be announced in the coming days, or, Microsoft may wait until next week before revealing what they have planned.
