Galaxy Watch release – The one thing you should know before buying Samsung’s smartwatch

It’s been a hugely busy few weeks for with the Korean technology firm releasing a swathe of new devices and upgrades.

First, we saw the unveiling of the Tab S4 tablet which includes a 10.5-inch display, huge 16-hour battery life and digital stylus which now comes bundled in the box.

Next up was smartphone.

This powerful phablet gets a faster processor, bigger battery and upgraded camera along with an update to the S Pen which is improved via Bluetooth technology.

Finally, was given its grand unveiling with Samsung hoping this device will help boost its wearable sales.

The new smartwatch boasts a range of extra features including better fitness tracking, sleep monitoring and the ability to cope with longer spells under water.

In fact, Samsung says its Galaxy Watch gets certified military-level durability with Corning Gorilla® Glass DX+ and 5 ATM rating water resistance.

Samsung is also launching a 4G ready model later this year which will allow users to make calls, send texts and check social media without the need for a smartphone.

Prices for the Galaxy Watch start from £279 for the 42mm model and £299 for the larger 46mm version.

However, before you place your order there is something worth remembering.

The smaller Galaxy Watch comes in two colours including Midnight Black and Rose Gold whereas the larger device is only available in Silver.

But despite the lack of styles, there is a major advantage with the 46mm model.

Samsung says this large wearable will last for a whopping seven days on a single charge which makes it a market leader when it comes to battery life.

The smaller 42mm version might have extra colours to choose from but this device only lasts for four days on a charge.

This is still much better than its main Apple Watch rival but, if you want to a smartwatch that lasts for a week without going near a plug, you’ll be well advised to go large.
