Fortnite update Today? Epic Games 5.2 patch latest and release notes news

Everything looked primed today for the very next content update to be released by Epic Games.

Tuesday has become the traditional day when the development team like to launch their big patches.

However, having skipped the usual 12-hour warning on releasing a new Fortnite update, nothing appeared on any platforms.

Fans were left to wonder what happened to today’ Fortnite 5.2 update and when it might pop up next.

From what we have seen in the past, content patches are the ones that usually move around the most.

Epic Games have created a structure for when they launch new content and challenges, but this is subject to change.

And it appears fans might be waiting a little longer for the new content that has been teased this week.

Fans already know that a new Heavy Sniper Rifle is being added to the game, while a fresh LTM is also expected.

The ‘new updates’ screen has been teasing that the heavy sniper weapon is “coming soon” and it’s rumoured the Sniper Shootout LTM could also be returning.

The @FNBRLeaks Twitter also added that it was likely that the Sniper Shootout LTM could return this week.

They tweeted: “With the new Heavy Sniper Rifle, expect Sniper Shootout to return back this week.”

If the Fortnite Sniper Shootout LTM does arrive this week, it will be replacing the Steady Storm LTM.

So when could the next update be released for Fortnite Battle Royale?

Without a direct message from Epic Games, it’s hard to pinpoint when exactly it will arrive.

Looking back on how things have been done in the past, it seems likely that a new patch will arrive by Thursday.

August 16 will see the latest batch of challenges launched by Epic Games, so it stands to reason they would want the newest content released at that time as well.

So it will be worth fans keeping an eye out for the latest news from Epic Games directly, with updates shared on the official Reddit and Twitter pages for the game.

The late release of the new content patch could mean that the development team are starting to plan for their next significant events.

Epic Games like to start dropping hints about the next seasonal changes early, so there’s a chance something is being cooked up.

This could be as simple as the in-game rifts starting to close, which is rumoured to start happening very soon.

Data miners report that they have found evidence to suggest that this mini-event will start happening in-game by August 18.

However, there’s nothing to suggest that anything will be taking their place, or that Epic Games have any major plans for other changes this week.

The big event we know is coming this week the launch of the new challenges for the battle pass.

The new week 6 challenges have been leaked online, meaning fans get a closer look at what’s coming next.

From what has been revealed this week, it looks like Fortnite fans will be searching for big stone heads, as well as completing time trials.

They will also need to score Minigun or Light Machine Gun eliminations and take out opponents at Tilted Towers:

  • Deal headshot damage to opponents (0/500)
  • Harvest building resources with a pickaxe (0/3000)
  • Search where the Stone Heads are looking (0/1)(HARD)

Battle Pass:

  • Search Chests in Lonely Lodge (0/7)
  • Complete timed trials (0/5)
  • Minigun or Light Machine Gun eliminations (0/2)(HARD)
  • Eliminate opponents in Tilted Towers (0/3)(HARD)
