Black Ops 4 open beta: How to play Call of Duty for free

While PS4 players have had the most chance to beta test the new Call of Duty, playing the game on other platforms has its perks.

Xbox One players will, unfortunately, have to wait to play new content like in the past; however, PC players have a nice little freebie they can enjoy now.

This weekend has Activision hosting Black Ops 4 beta tests on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but only one of them is free for anyone to play.

That’s because there is a Black Ops 4 open beta currently underway on Battle.net, and will last for the remainder of the weekend.

Unlike on Xbox One and PS4, PC COD players simply need a Battle.net login to download and install the Black Ops 4 beta.

Players who pre-purchased the PC version also got an extra full day of beta action on August 10.

And there is still plenty of time to join in, with the second Black Ops 4 beta test running until Monday, August 13.

The Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta test will end worldwide at the same moment.

It will finish in the UK at 6pm BST, which is 10am PT and 1pm ET.

You can download the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta by visiting the Battle.net launcher.

If you’re wondering whether your PC can handle Black Ops 4, then here are the specs you’ll need for the new Call of Duty.

This is the first time that Xbox One and PC fans have been able to play the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta.

The first weekend of Black Ops 4 beta testing was exclusively for Call of Duty players on PS4.

Black Ops 4 beta codes were sent out to those who pre-ordered the next instalment of the hugely popular Call of Duty series.

However, there have been a number of ways so far to get free Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta codes.

Sadly Activision has not confirmed if there will be an open beta for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 on console.

It seems unlikely at this point, however, with such a full year of games to choose from, Activision may look to hook more players in for the October release date.

The current beta includes six maps to play on, 10 specialists to try out and six multiplayer modes to use.
