The Meg deleted scenes: Ruby Rose reveals EPIC moment that was CUT – ‘It took five hours!’

Ruby Rose, who stars in the new shark movie, has revealed an epic deleted scene that took five hours to film but never saw the light of day.

Speaking to MTV, she recalled: “I think it’s good it didn’t make it in…

“There was one scene we spent all day on, and Jon [Turteltaub, director] had this idea that Jason [Statham] should say all the things that he needs for this sort of mission or whatever.

“And then he’s like, ‘…and a banana’.

“The list of what he had to memorise, by the way, was so ridiculous – things I’ve never heard of.

“And he has to get all the way down the bottom of this monologue and then say, ‘and a banana’. And we did it for five hours or something.”

She added: “Only to watch the film and have it cut and be like, ‘are you serious?’

“What happened to the banana?!”

Turteltaub has previously hinted that some gory moments were also cut from the film in a bid to keep it at a PG-13 rating.

“We shot or even did a lot of visual effects for [gory scenes],” he told Bloody Disgusting.

“We just realised there’s no way we’re keeping this PG-13 if we show this. It’s too fun a movie to not let people who don’t like blood and people who are under, say, 14 years old into the theatre.

“I was very hesitant to cut out a lot of blood and gore. I wouldn’t have if I thought it was wrecking the story but it wasn’t. It still looked okay.
