Lakers news: WATCH LeBron James showcase talents in first training session, fans go crazy

James left the Eastern Conference this summer, ending his second spell with the Cleveland Cavaliers, to join up with the Lakers in free agency.

But it was nearly a month until James officially addressed his decision, stating it was a “dream come true”.

The 33-year-old was spotted donning some old school Lakers shorts during a visit to the NBA Summer League to support his new team with some fans finding it hard to get used to seeing the four-time NBA MVP in the famous purple and gold.

Video game footage of James wearing the famous jersey in NBA 2k19 has also been released but fans were still left waiting on what the real thing would look like… until now.

The Lakers released a video this morning of their new superstar training at the gym and working on his game.

The three-time NBA champion could be seen training one-on-one with a Lakers coach.

And Lakers fans couldn’t quite cope with the first glimpse of James working out on his new gear, positing numerous memes in response to the video.

One Lakers supporter tweeted: “When one guy immediately makes your team a contender.”

Another said: “King James in the building…!!! Let’s go…!!!”

James missed out on a fifth MVP award last season with James Harden being named the league’s best player.

But former NBA star Jalen Rose believes the new Laker will be the favourite to win his first MVP award since 2013.

“Having people in the conversation is one thing. LeBron James is going to win MVP this year,” Rose said on ESPN’s Get Up.

“LeBron is about to win every award, socially, politically, MVP.

“He’s on the biggest stage in Los Angeles, they’re going to be improved.

“The voters carry storylines, I am a voter. He is going to win MVP this year.”
