Galaxy Note 9 price SHOCK: Samsung flagship costs £500 more than Galaxy Note 8

The Galaxy Note 9 boasts supercharged internals, a brand new camera system and tons of internal storage.

Samsung has insisted the phone is designed to meet all the needs of its users with DJ Koh, the President and CEO of IT and Mobile Communications Division for Samsung Electronics, saying it gives fans everything they want.

He said: “The Note has always been our showcase for premium technology and industry-defining innovation, and Galaxy Note9 is no exception.

“It’s designed for a level of performance, power and intelligence that today’s power users want and need.

“Note fans are Samsung’s most loyal; we know they want it all, to get the most out of work and play, and Galaxy Note9 is the only phone that can keep up with their busy lives.”

The flagship features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display and is complemented by stereo speakers that are tuned by AKG.

Samsung’s DeX functionality returns to the Note 9 and is easier for users to harness than ever.

Instead of requiring a dock to perform the feature, all that is needed is a USB-C to HDMI connector.

The product line’s signature S Pen has also been given a huge upgrade.

It now has Bluetooth support, meaning it can be used to control video playback for instance.

The Note 9 boasts a 4000mAh battery that aims to deliver all-day battery life.

It also features up to 512GB of internal storage depending on which variant fans choose to pick up.

A 128GB model is also available that comes with 6GB of RAM while the larger capacity model has 8GB of RAM.

The former is priced at £899 while the latter comes in at a whopping £1,099.

That means if fans want the top-tier version of the Note 9, they will have to pay over £500 more than the current asking price of the Note 8.

Although Samsung is currently selling the Note 8 for £769 on its website, Express.co.uk found the phablet on Amazon for £588.99.

The Note 8 is a brilliant phone in its own right and users will have to decide whether the added features on the Note 9 are worth the gaping price difference.

Pre-orders for the Note 9 start at 5pm GMT today before the phone launches on August 24.
