Man Utd transfer news: Ousmane Dembele reveals desire to play with Paul Pogba

Manchester United are determined to retain Pogba for the new season despite his agent’s best efforts to find a new club.

Mino Raiola is said to have contacted Barcelona over a possible deal.

But the cost of a possible transfer and a lack of replacement targets on United’s radar means a deal will most likely not go through.

And while a move to the Nou Camp this summer appears unlikely, Barca winger Dembele would love to see it happen.

Speaking to other gamers while on the gaming network Twitch, Dembele was asked about the prospect of teaming up with Pogba at the Nou Camp.

He replied: “I would love to play with Pogba, but I have no information.”

Pogba joined United for £89m two years ago and, while he has laboured to impress under manager Jose Mourinho, a switch this summer is unlikely.

United know Pogba’s brand presence is central to their off-the-field business strategy and losing a ‘Galactico’ like the 25-year-old would hamper the club unless a new big name was signed.

United have been linked with a deal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in recent weeks but the Bosnian would cost around £70m to prise away from Lazio – and deals like that take time to complete.

As for Dembele, he himself has been linked with a move away from Barcelona.

Arsenal are favourites to snap up the ex-Borussia Dortmund star if he becomes available.

The Gunners would be keen on a loan move for Dembele, who cost Barca £138m last summer.

Dembele won the World Cup for France alongside Pogba this summer.

The forward endured a miserable first season at Barcelona following his move from Dortmund – in large part due to a serious hamstring injury sustained in only his fourth appearance for Barca.

He scored only four goals for the La Liga champions league term and failed to find the net in his four World Cup appearances this summer.
