Sarah Ferguson opens up about Princess Eugenie’s wedding – revealing why she’ll cry

Sarah Ferguson, 58, has been relatively quiet in the run-up to her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding, but has recently opened up about the big day.

Eugenie is marrying her long-term partner Jack Brooksbank in October at St George’s Chapel, after announcing their engagement in January this year.

As mother of the bride Sarah will no doubt be helping Eugenie plan her wedding, and has now revealed some wedding details.

Talking on BBC’s The One show, the former Duchess of York discussed the big day with presenters Alex Jones and Michael Ball, spilling that she now thinks she’ll cry at the wedding.

Laughing with the presenters, Sarah said: “I do understand why mothers cry at weddings now,” she explained.

“All my life I thought, ‘Oh, what’s she crying for?’ It’s lovely, it’s a great day. It’s my little girl.”

This won’t be the first time Fergie has cried at a wedding, revealing previously that she shed a tear at her nephew Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.

Talking to BANG Showbiz, the Duchess said: “It was such an honour, just beautiful.

“To see love like that is nothing better. That makes you cry.”

But Sarah will have to keep her emotions in check before the wedding, reportedly very busy with helping her daughter organise the big day.

When asked if she had her outfit planned yet, the 58-year-old joked: “I’ve been a little busy with organising things.”

A source also told People magazine that while it is “very much Princess Eugenie and Jack’s day, and they are leading the planning”, there is also a lot of input from Sarah.

The source also said that Fergie is “very involved” in planning the wedding, with rumours that Eugenie’s wedding dress will even have a nod to her mother’s.

Speaking to the Express.co.uk, Cambridge Vintage Bridal’s Siobhan Mulholland said: “If ever someone had the opportunity to up-cycle and restructure an iconic 1980s wedding dress, it’s Eugenie!”

Despite all the wedding buzz and excitement, it seems Sarah is also already looking forward to being a grandmother some day.

When asked by The One Show presenters how she felt about the prospect of becoming a grandmother, Sarah replied she feels “excellent”.

Fergie continued: “They are thrilled because I write children’s books and I’m a child, I haven’t grown up.”

Discussing her relationship with her future son-in-law, Sarah joked about how happy she is with Jack’s current job.

“The good news is that Jack works as the European manager for Casamigos tequila, so I’m perfect,” she said.

Gushing even more about her daughter’s future husband, Sarah added: “Jack is an amazing bringer of light and he brings joy.
