Star Wars has inspired generations upon generations of frenzied fans, all of whom are waiting with bated breath for the next, and final, instalment of the Skywalker saga.

With the recent release of the Star Wars Episode 9 cast list, speculation has run rife on Reddit and YouTube alike.

The next big bit of news will be the teaser trailer, where fans will have their first glimpse of the final instalment of Star Wars as we know it.

When can fans finally expect the Star Wars Episode 9 trailer?

Unfortunately, fans still have a while to wait for the trailer for the final instalment of the contemporary trilogy.

STAR WARS EPISODE 9: IS STAR WARS EPISODE 9 THE LAST ONE?

Principal photography for Episode IX started at Pinewood Studios in London on August 1, 2018.

Keeping in line with the schedules of The Last Jedi, a teaser for Episode 9 may be out in November – but the full trailer won’t be released until April 2019.

Lucasfilm has their Star Wars Celebration planned for 2019 so it is likely a trailer for Episode IX could be released then, as the central event of the celebration.

Episode 9, whose working title is trIXie, will likely get its poster at the Celebration as well.

However, The Force Awakens’ first trailer was released 13 months before its release, in November.

If this time frame could be used as a guide point for what to expect with Episode 9, there may be only a six-month wait before we some form of a teaser for Episode 9 arrives.

Lucasfilm has yet to give anything away but fans are full of speculation, some taking to YouTube to craft their own concept teasers.

A little-known fact about Episode 9 concerns the composer, John Williams, who scored every movie in the Star Wars saga.

Fans can breathe easy as the composer will return for Episode 9, but this will be his last foray into the galaxies.

Despite the backlash The Last Jedi, the next instalment won’t retcon anything.

Ret-conning is when a piece of new information is introduced which imposes a new interpretation on a previously described event.

This is typically used to allow for an unexpected plot shift or account for an inconsistency (or, in Star Wars’ case, fan backlash).

JJ Abrams, who will direct Episode 9, submitted his Star Wars 9 pitch the day Last Jedi opened in cinemas and has been quoted saying he liked Johnson’s direction.

Star Wars Episode IX is in cinemas Thursday, December 19, 2019.
