A shocking footage of terror-stricken tourists in Bali shows people trying to leave their hotel rooms as another massive earthquake hit the Indonesia island of Lombok on Sunday.
The 7.0 magnitude earthquake is the second to hit Indonesia in just two weeks and it is even more powerful than the first one.
The video, posted on social media, shows the terrified tourists in Bali screaming for their lives as they escape their hotel rooms whilst the earth is shaking.
The quake struck the popular tourist destination at 6.47am local time (2347 BST) and its epicentre was 50km north-east of the city of Mataram, which has a population of 319,000.
Eye-witness Jean-Paul Volckaert, who was woken by the quake at the Puncak hotel last week, said: “We jumped out of our beds to avoid anything falling on our heads.
“We were very surprised as the water in the pools was swaying like a wild sea. There were waves in the pools but only for 20 to 30 seconds.”
A tsunami warning has been issued for the quake, which occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), the Indonesian Meteorological Agency said.
The latest quake follows a similar disaster exactly one week ago which killed 17 people.
Officials have urged people to move away from the ocean.
Dwikorita Karnawati, head of the agency for meteorology, climatology and geophysics, told local TV: “Please go to a place with higher ground while remaining calm and not panicking.”
It is understood to be affecting North Lombok, East and North Bali, the north side of East Java, Southeast Madura, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi.
No damage or casualties have been reported so far.
